It is very good that the US is concerned about the transparency of foreign influence; what we have been asserting for years—and what our political opponents and foreign agent networks labeled a "Russian law"—has turned out to be a foundation of democracy. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated this to journalists while commenting on US legislation that requires individuals to register as foreign agents.

According to the head of government, transparency is essentially a foundation of democracy, and transparency should be strengthened in every democratic country. "Transparency is one of the fundamental principles of democracy. It is very good that the U.S. is concerned with transparency regarding foreign influence; what we had been advocating for years—and what our political opponents and foreign-linked agents labeled a 'Russian law'—has turned out to be a cornerstone of democracy. Transparency is indeed essential to democracy, and it should be strengthened in every democratic country. We took serious steps to address this in Georgia, and it has yielded results. Ensuring that any foreign political influence operates transparently is a key priority for us," the Prime Minister stated.
