Diplomatic Relations Established Between Georgia and the Republic of Nauru

Diplomatic relations have been established between Georgia and the Republic of Nauru. The relevant document was signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the President of the Republic of Nauru, David Adeang.

According to the Prime Minister's press service, during a meeting held in New York, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze once again thanked the President of the Republic of Nauru for severing diplomatic ties with Georgia's occupied territories. He noted that this decision underscores once again that adherence to the principles of international law forms the foundation of stable and responsible international relations.

"The discussion covered cooperation within multilateral formats, including within international organizations. Prospects for deepening partnerships and people-to-people ties in areas of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting," stated the information released by the Prime Minister's press service. The meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN David Bakradze.

As a reminder, the Republic of Nauru revoked its recognition of the "independence" of the occupied so-called South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as well as its diplomatic relations with them, on July 29.
