Irakli Kobakhidze Met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. According to the Government Administration, the meeting highlighted the long-standing, fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the United Nations.

Discussions focused on challenges facing international peace and security, as well as the vital importance of multilateral partnership in ensuring long-term stability and prosperity.

It was noted during the meeting that the fact that peace, security, and sustainable development constitute the main theme of the General Debate at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly underscores the particular relevance of these issues.

Attention was also drawn to the difficult humanitarian situation and security challenges in Georgia's occupied territories. The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the UN Secretary-General for the support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and emphasized the importance of the General Assembly resolution titled "Status of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia."
