A meeting of EU foreign ministers is taking place in Luxembourg in two weeks. Just as we did with the Belgian parliament, we have asked our Luxembourgish colleagues to engage with EU institutions and convince them that a fair dialogue is the only right path forward – this is what the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told Georgian journalists in Luxembourg.

According to him, EU institutions need to return to the path of dialogue.

"By its very nature, the European Union was created to overcome confrontation; today, when confrontation serves as the guiding principle for political decisions for some, this is inherently anti-European. Therefore, we hope that representatives from both the Luxembourgish and Belgian parliaments will work with EU institutions in this regard to convince them to return to the path of dialogue," Papuashvili stated. According to the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Georgia supports the trend of EU member states making their voices heard more clearly by the bloc's bureaucracy.

"In general, we are observing a process where EU member states are increasingly concerned and are striving to ensure their voices are heard more clearly in Brussels. Calls for reforms involving structural changes are precisely aimed at this. At times, it is evident even from the outside that the EU bureaucracy has consolidated so much power that the voices of member states are no longer being heard as clearly. I believe that member states making their voices heard even more loudly in Brussels today is part of this process. I am confident that this process will follow its logical course of development," Papuashvili stated.
