Two individuals arrested for possession of a particularly large quantity of cigarettes lacking excise stamps

Officers from the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, following operational-search measures and investigative actions, have arrested two individuals for the possession—acting as a group by prior agreement—of a particularly large quantity of goods subject to mandatory excise stamping but lacking such stamps.

As a result of the investigative actions, 3,000 packs of various brands of cigarettes lacking excise stamps were seized from the residence of one of the accused. The total market value of the seized products amounts to 19,200 GEL.

The investigation is proceeding under Article 200, Part 2, Sub-clause "g" and Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for a prison sentence of 6 to 8 years.
