Police Seize Large Quantity of Drugs and Illegal Firearm in Tetritskaro Village; One Person Arrested

Officers from the Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs) have arrested one individual on charges of illegally acquiring, possessing, and facilitating the sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs, as well as the unlawful acquisition and possession of a firearm.

During a search of the accused's home in a village within the Tetritskaro Municipality, law enforcement officers seized—as evidence—a particularly large quantity of the narcotic drug "Methadone" (packaged in 76 separate wraps ready for sale) and materials used for packaging narcotics. Police also seized a pistol as evidence. The investigation is proceeding under Articles 260, 260 (part 4), and 236 of the Criminal Code, which provide for imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
