Police Seize Exceptionally Large Quantity of Drugs in Imereti; Four Individuals Arrested, Including Three Foreign Nationals

Officers from the Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested four individuals—including three foreign nationals—on charges of the illegal purchase, possession, sale, and facilitation of the sale of an exceptionally large quantity of narcotic drugs, committed as part of a group acting by prior agreement.

Acting on a court order, law enforcement officers conducted a controlled purchase of narcotic drugs from one of the detainees and secretly recorded the transaction via audio and video.

During searches of the accused individuals' persons and temporary residences, as well as at locations indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized—as evidence—various types of narcotic drugs prepared for sale in exceptionally large quantities, including over two kilograms of methadone and marijuana. Police have also seized materials used for packaging narcotic substances and money suspected to be proceeds from the sale of drugs as evidence.

The investigation is proceeding under Articles 260, 260-3, and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which provide for imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
