Fourteen years ago, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili’s "Georgian Dream" and the Georgian people joined forces to defeat Saakashvili’s sadistic regime in a revolutionary election – Davit Matikashvili

Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliament’s Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, commented on the 14th anniversary of "Georgian Dream" coming to power.

He stated that the elections held on October 1, 2012, brought about fundamental changes in Georgia's modern history.

"Fourteen years ago, on October 1, a fundamental shift occurred in our modern history—a moment when Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili’s 'Georgian Dream' and the Georgian people united to defeat Saakashvili’s sadistic regime in a revolutionary election.

This marked the end of the 'National Movement’s' destructive rule in Georgia—a period that had inflicted immense damage on our country—and ushered in an era of national renewal, advancement, and progress, alongside fourteen years of uninterrupted peace, all of which has yielded tangible results for our fellow citizens." "Looking back from today's perspective, this was a battle fought by Bidzina Ivanishvili—the Honorary Chairman of 'Georgian Dream'—and the entire Georgian people. Had it not been for him, we would be facing dire and catastrophic consequences today. We became convinced of this—especially when the war in Ukraine broke out and Georgia itself stood on the brink of war. It was 'Georgian Dream' that managed to save the country from such a grim outcome.

As for the radical opposition’s so-called rhetoric, it is laughable to hear them speak about penitentiary institutions, prisons, and political prisoners—especially considering that before 2012, the prisons were overflowing and a vast number of inmates were political prisoners.
