There are no grounds for panic or unfounded alarm regarding the potential spread of the plague in Russia – Mikheil Sarjveladze

According to Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze, there are no grounds for panic or unfounded alarm regarding the potential spread of the plague in Russia.

As the Minister noted, Georgia stands ready to protect the population from any risks should the need arise. "The Center for Disease Control and the Ministry are actively monitoring ongoing developments and circumstances. The World Health Organization serves as the primary source of information. Based on this information, I can state that there are no grounds for panic or unfounded alarm. There is no indication of a need to implement specific measures, nor are there any recommendations to do so. The data being gathered concerns locations very far from Georgia; considering all factors regarding the intensity of travel and movement, there is certainly no indication that any specific measures need to be taken. Naturally, should the need arise, we are immediately prepared to take any action necessary to protect the population of Georgia from such risks," stated Sarjveladze.
