A Divine Liturgy officiated by Shio III is underway at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in celebration of the Svetitskhovloba feast
To mark the feast of Svetitskhovloba and the 1,700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion in Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Shio III—Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia—is celebrating the Divine Liturgy at the Svetitskhoveli Patriarchal Cathedral alongside members of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Delegation members from various local Orthodox churches and guests from abroad are attending the service.
The service began at 10:00 AM.
The feast of Svetitskhovloba is celebrated twice a year: on October 14 and July 13. On October 14, the Church commemorates the Robe of Christ, while on July 13, it commemorates all the Apostles of Christ.
