One Person Arrested for Robbing 12 Graves in Zestafoni

Officers from the Zestafoni District Division of the Imereti Police Department (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs) have arrested an individual on charges of showing disrespect toward the deceased and the unlawful appropriation of items from graves.

The investigation established that the accused robbed 12 graves in the Zestafoni Municipality. Specifically, the individual stole metal components from the fences surrounding the graves and subsequently sold them to a metal recycling/collection point in the city of Zestafoni.

Following operational measures and investigative actions, law enforcement officers apprehended the perpetrator, while the stolen metal items were seized as physical evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 258, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of up to two years of imprisonment.
