Ministry Releases Information Regarding the Program for Providing Financial Compensation to Displaced Persons
Applications for the program providing financial compensation to displaced persons will be accepted from October 19 through November 2. Internally displaced persons may submit their applications at Public Service Halls located throughout the country. This information was released by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs.
According to the Ministry, participation in this new program is entirely voluntary and is open to any displaced family that has not previously received residential space or corresponding compensation from the state. "Financial compensation will be issued based on the order in which applications are submitted, amounting to 10,000 GEL for each displaced family member.
A total of 58 million GEL has already been allocated in this year’s budget for this program, with the amount set to increase further in the coming years.
During a commission meeting held at the Agency for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Giorgi Tsagareishvili—Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs—and Davit Kaikatsishvili, Director of the IDP Agency, discussed the procedural aspects of the program's implementation.
All adult family members must be present in person when completing the application. Once an application is received, the relevant department within the IDP Agency will process the submitted documentation in the order it was received. The number of families granted financial compensation will be determined by the available budgetary resources.
It is also important to note that the construction of modern, high-standard residential complexes, as well as the 'House in the Village' purchase program, continue to be actively pursued." "Financial compensation will be provided in parallel and will not hinder the implementation of existing, successful programs," the statement reads.
