    Due to the regression of democratic processes in Georgia, the European Union is no longer funding the Georgian government; however, it continues to support the Georgian population. In 2026, the EU will allocate €38 million for the implementation of new projects, thereby continuing to drive real, positive change for families and communities across Georgia. This was stated by the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia in a post on social media. The European Union has been supporting the people of Georgia for over 30 years.

    Since 1992, the EU has invested more than €2 billion in Georgia to foster progress across various sectors, including agricultural development, support for residents in the regions to launch their own businesses, improvement of air quality, and—among many other initiatives—the modernization of the East-West Highway.

    Due to the regression of democratic processes in Georgia, the EU no longer provides funding to the Georgian government; however, we continue to support the Georgian people.

    We reaffirm our commitment to these efforts. In 2026, the EU will allocate €38 million for new projects, continuing to drive tangible, positive change for families and communities throughout Georgia.

    The focus areas for these projects include:

    Creating economic opportunities in small towns and settlements;

    Developing skills aligned with the needs of a changing labor market;

    Socio-economic Development in rural areas and regions, with the involvement of women in these processes;

    Improving access to markets and enhancing food quality;

    Combating violence against women and girls;

    Promoting safe and organized migration;

    Adapting to climate change and preparing for natural disasters;

    Continuing support for communities living in Abkhazia,” the statement reads.
