Georgia is following Moscow’s playbook to the letter – Salome Zourabichvili

"Georgia is following Moscow’s playbook to the letter" — this is how the fifth President of Georgia has responded to the imposition of a 30-day administrative detention on journalist Vakho Sanaia, which stemmed from a post he made on Facebook.

"Georgia is following Moscow’s playbook to the letter: it turns Facebook posts into 'crimes' and puts journalists in jail. Sentencing Vakho Sanaia to 30 days in detention is a desperate move by an authoritarian regime—an attempt to reassure and save itself," Salome Zourabichvili wrote on X.

For context, journalist Vakho Sanaia has been sentenced to 30 days of administrative detention. The decision was handed down by Judge Tornike Kochkiani.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs had accused Sanaia of insulting political officials through three posts he published on social media.
