Three individuals have been arrested in the Marneuli Municipality in connection with two separate incidents involving charges of domestic violence and coercing a family member into marriage

Officers from the Marneuli District Division of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs) have arrested three individuals in the Marneuli Municipality in relation to two separate cases involving domestic violence and the coercion of a family member into marriage.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the accused—motivated by an intolerance toward gender equality—forced their children (including a minor) to marry men from their own village, against the children's own will.

"Law enforcement officers arrested all three individuals following operational measures and investigative actions.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 11¹-150¹ and 126¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to four years of imprisonment," the statement reads.
