Two Foreign Nationals Arrested in Tbilisi for Facilitating Drug Distribution

Officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs) have arrested two foreign nationals on charges of acquiring, possessing, and facilitating the distribution of an especially large quantity of narcotic substances, committed as a group by prior agreement.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers seized a large quantity of the narcotic substance "methadone"—packaged into 12 separate bundles and prepared for distribution—during a personal search of one of the suspects and from locations identified by the second suspect.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
