Irakli Kobakhidze to Attend 70th Anniversary Commemorations of the Hungarian Revolution in Budapest
At the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will attend the 70th anniversary commemorations of the Hungarian Revolution in Budapest.
According to the Government Administration, the main commemorative event—during which the Hungarian Prime Minister will deliver an address—will take place on October 23 in the central square of the Hungarian capital. "The freedom that Central Europe finally regained in 1989 did not begin in 1989. Part of its history was written 33 years earlier, on the streets of Budapest. I have the honor to invite you to Budapest to commemorate, together, the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. It would be a great honor for us to have you attend this event, where we will pay tribute to individuals whose courage continues to inspire our shared European future today, and whose legacy remains relevant to the challenges of our time," states the official invitation letter from Péter Magyar, which was received by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
