The rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue is actively underway, and as promised, the work will be completed by the end of November—Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated this during today’s meeting of the municipal government.

He noted that it is impossible to carry out work of this scale without the associated restrictions.

"Underground utility networks on Rustaveli Avenue are being completely renewed, and the pedestrian sidewalks are being upgraded. Certain challenges regarding movement on Rustaveli Avenue have arisen; however, it is inconceivable to conduct work of this magnitude without some degree of discomfort. I apologize to the public once again. We understand that it is difficult. I assure you that once the project is finished, the avenue will be fully restored and renewed in every respect," said Kakha Kaladze.

The Mayor of Tbilisi explained that the complete rehabilitation and renovation of the buildings located along the avenue are planned for next year. "We have opened traffic from Chovelidze Street onto Elbakidze Ascent. There is a specific section within the lower layers, but preparatory work—such as raising the manhole covers—has already begun there as well, in order to facilitate the laying of the final asphalt layers. This will be carried out as a single operation once the entire avenue—across all sections—is fully prepared for the final stage of the project: the application of the top asphalt layer. In short, the work is proceeding according to plan," noted Kakha Kaladze.
