Irakli Kobakhidze on Paata Burchuladze: If he expresses remorse, repents, and makes an admission, he will be able to leave prison very easily
If he expresses remorse, repents, and makes an admission, he will be able to leave prison very easily; any demand for unconditional release fundamentally contradicts the principle of the rule of law. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in response to a question regarding Paata Burchuladze.
As the head of government noted, everyone must respect the rule of law in the country. "We have a very clear message regarding prisoners who were involved in violence—this applies to them, including the organizers of violent protests. Anyone who was involved in violence can secure their release from custody; this also applies to Mr. Burchuladze. If he expresses remorse—if there is repentance and an admission of guilt—he will be able to leave prison very easily. Any demand for unconditional release fundamentally contradicts the principle of the rule of law," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
