The opposition never had an action plan; there is no opposition in our country – Levan Machavariani

Levan Machavariani, an MP from "Georgian Dream," commented on reports that opposition politicians are set to meet with European diplomats on November 3.

According to Machavariani, the opposition lacks an action plan of its own; in his view, it simply waits for decisions and instructions from the outside. "The opposition never even had an action plan; the most regrettable part is that there is no real opposition in our country. Instead, there is a network of agents who do not even know what they will talk about tomorrow—they have to show up just to receive fresh instructions on how to proceed.

Regardless of the issue, we see the same pattern. During the 2024 elections, the opposition did not take to the streets, did not travel to the regions, and did not engage with the public. Instead, they spent their time traveling between various foreign capitals, from where their entire election campaign was effectively orchestrated.

Various countries sent delegations here to join their rallies and make statements in support of the opposition. They have absolutely no connection to the public, they formulate no agenda of their own, and they simply wait for instructions from the outside.

It is precisely these external directives that have been their undoing, leaving them in a dire state. Their approval ratings have effectively vanished—they are hovering very close to zero. This is best..." This is evidenced by an IRI study—which they didn't even publish, as they were so embarrassed by it.

Why is all this happening? Because they heeded dictates and instructions from abroad—and, frankly, threw their mandates back in the faces of their own voters—they now find themselves in such a deplorable state.

"Their true nature has been exposed; the vast majority of our society knows that they are controlled from the outside. Naturally, such parties are of no use to the Georgian people," stated Levan Machavariani.

For reference, reports indicate that opposition representatives are set to meet with European diplomats on November 3. Leaders from some of the opposition parties also met with ambassadors accredited to Georgia on October 20.
