We did not leave the "opposition alliance", we were expelled - Ana Tsitlidze
Ana Tsitlidze, one of the leaders of the "National Movement," states that the UNM was expelled from the opposition alliance. The politician made this remark during a live broadcast on "TV Pirveli," in conversation with Inga Grigolia. “First of all, I must say that the situation was misinterpreted—though this was likely more our fault than the fault of those who spread the information. We did not leave the alliance; rather, we only learned that we had been excluded after it was revealed that our logo was missing [from the alliance’s materials].
The reality is that while there were attacks on Mikheil Saakashvili, we were not particularly active within the alliance—but we did not leave it. Had we chosen to leave, such a decision would have required formal approval from both our Political Council and our Governing Council. No such decision was ever made. Instead, yesterday morning—while Irakli Pavlenishvili was giving a comment—we noticed that the 'National Movement' logo was absent. We asked whether we were still part of the alliance, and were subsequently told that we had been excluded. Our response was that, given we hadn't been active in the alliance for the past few months, we hadn't actually 'left' it. So, while we learned yesterday that we are no longer part of the alliance, I don't believe this is of any real significance.
When I found out, a question arose in my mind: especially now, as we face critical constitutional sessions—where we are all standing together and defending one another...” "We are opposition parties, and we are fighting against such immense injustice—was this really the time to expel us?" says Ana Tsitlidze.
