"Over the past years, we have witnessed numerous attempts to interfere with the work of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and to undermine its independence. Behind these attempts stands the same political force that, in the past, compromised the Court’s independence by leveraging the mechanisms of an authoritarian regime. Furthermore, these efforts are backed by the same foreign actors who, at that time, gave the 'green light' to the authoritarian regime’s assault on the Constitutional Court’s independence," stated Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze while addressing an international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

He added that the Constitutional Court of Georgia continues to face numerous challenges today, among which the protection of the Court’s independence remains one of the most critical. "Today, we frequently hear blunt political statements—both within the country and abroad—regarding cases under the adjudication of the Constitutional Court. We observe certain ambassadors attempting to elicit clarifications from the Constitutional Court concerning ongoing cases; such actions must be characterized as a gross violation of the Vienna Convention and a blatant attempt to exert pressure on the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

It is significant that, despite various challenges, the Constitutional Court currently serves as a steadfast guardian of the Constitution of Georgia and a worthy guarantor of human rights protection within the country. For this, every judge of the Constitutional Court deserves the profound gratitude of Georgian society. I would also like to express my appreciation to the staff of the Constitutional Court, who play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the institution. The Government of Georgia is committed—and will remain steadfastly committed in the future—to safeguarding the independence of the Constitutional Court and ensuring its effective operation. I would like to extend my congratulations once again to the judges of the Constitutional Court and to the citizens of our country." "On the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court, I wish the Court success in its service to Georgia—in the highly responsible and honorable task of upholding the Constitution of Georgia and protecting human rights," the Prime Minister noted.
