The Constitutional Court serves as an institutional guarantee that ensures social stability and the maintenance of political processes within a constitutional framework – Mikheil Kavelashvili

"One of the primary pillars of our national security and sovereignty lies in strong institutions. The Constitutional Court is the institutional guarantee that ensures social stability and the maintenance of political processes within a constitutional framework," stated Mikheil Kavelashvili. Speaking at an event marking the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, he addressed the importance of upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and strengthening the rule of law.

The event was attended by the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, and other invited guests. According to Mikheil Kavelashvili, following the restoration of independence, the construction of a new, democratic, and legal system was a task of vital importance for Georgia. In this context, the establishment of the Constitutional Court became a tangible realization of the rule of law.

"Historically, Georgian statehood and political thought have always been rooted in the concepts of justice and legality. Over the centuries, our ancestors created legal monuments that—even during the most arduous periods of our history—preserved the nation’s spiritual, moral, and political unity. Constitutional oversight is the modern continuation of this centuries-old tradition; it serves as a fundamental pillar of the rule-of-law state, ensuring a balance between the branches of government, safeguarding individual freedom, and strictly defining the limits of state authority," the President stated. According to her, the modern technological era gives rise to new and complex legal issues; however, the core mission of the Constitutional Court remains unchanged: to uphold the Constitution and human dignity, and to maintain a balance among state institutions.

The President of Georgia congratulated the Constitutional Court on its 30th anniversary and expressed hope that it would continue to fulfill its assigned mission with a high sense of responsibility in the future.
