Foreign agent networks in our country have been almost completely neutralized, and they do not like this. They refuse to engage in any kind of discussion; they simply demand—in a crude manner—that we repeal this law. That is not going to happen - Irakli Kobakhidze
"The 'transparency law' has had a specific effect and a concrete result: foreign agent networks in our country have been almost completely neutralized. They do not like this—they do not like the neutralization of these foreign agent networks," Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze remarked in response to a journalist's question regarding a statement made by Paweł Herczyński concerning the "transparency law."
According to the Head of Government, transparency is, in fact, a European standard, and similar laws have been adopted in a number of European countries. "What this is about is simple: organizations funded by foreign governments must submit declarations to a specific agency once a year. It is impossible for anything to be more 'European' than this. They cannot engage in any meaningful discussion on the matter; they simply, and quite bluntly, demand that we repeal this law—but that is not going to happen. As you know, this law has had a concrete result—a tangible effect—which is that the foreign agent network in our country has been almost completely neutralized. They do not like this; they do not like the neutralization of the foreign agent network," stated the Prime Minister.
