I have information regarding two specific European ambassadors who, on different occasions, visited the Constitutional Court and requested an account concerning a specific ongoing case—an action prohibited in every country. This is what the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, told journalists.

According to the head of government, this constitutes a gross violation of legal principles, the principle of judicial independence, and the Vienna Convention.

"There were two specific European ambassadors who visited the Constitutional Court and requested information regarding a specific ongoing case; this is a gross violation of legal principles. Furthermore, you have also heard public statements concerning an ongoing case—this, too, is a gross violation of legal principles. I call upon everyone to respect the rule of law in Georgia," the Prime Minister noted. Irakli Kobakhidze responded to a question regarding whether this concerned the case involving the banning of political parties.

"Recently, information was requested in connection with this case as well. Previously, there were similar developments regarding other cases, which is inappropriate. You are well aware that the rule of law must be upheld in any country—in any democratic country—and the rule of law must be respected here as well," stated the Prime Minister.
