Portraying Gharibashvili as a 'political prisoner' is a grave insult to the real political prisoners who sacrificed themselves for Georgia; I hope no one buys into this nonsense — Mikheil Saakashvili
"Portraying Gharibashvili as a 'political prisoner' is a grave insult to the real political prisoners who sacrificed themselves for Georgia; I hope no one buys into this nonsense," writes Mikheil Saakashvili, the third President of Georgia, on social media.
"Gharibashvili claims that a letter from Mdinaradze constituted 'psychological torture' for him.
This is the same Gharibashvili who, in 2013, entered Bacho Akhalaia’s prison cell twice—once accompanied by a television camera—telling him: 'Give testimony against Saakashvili, and we’ll let you go right now.' On two other occasions, Ivanishvili sent Chubinidze to Bacho regarding the same matter; both Gharibashvili and Chubinidze seemed to be competing with one another in their zeal.
Naturally, this has escaped the public's attention. Instead, they are circulating the lamentations of Gharibashvili—who claims to have been 'tortured by a letter'—which leads me to conclude that the 'Dream' [Georgian Dream] members are, by nature, hysterical schemers." "Consider the things he himself was involved in—take, for instance, Partskhaladze spiriting Merabishvili away—yet, at the same time, he has tried to frame even the most minor detail as a grave injustice.
To portray Garibashvili as a 'political prisoner' is a profound insult to the genuine political prisoners who have sacrificed themselves for Georgia; I trust that no one will latch onto such nonsense," writes Mikheil Saakashvili.
