Irakli Chkhvirkia has left the penitentiary institution

Irakli Chkhvirkia, one of the individuals convicted in connection with the October 4th protest, has left the Gldani penitentiary institution.

He reached a plea agreement with the Prosecutor's Office, which was approved by Judge Mzia Lomtatidze of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.

The Prosecutor's Office had charged Irakli Chkhvirkia with attempting to seize facilities of special importance as part of a group, as well as participating in organized group violence. The City Court had previously sentenced him to five years in prison in connection with this case. Under the terms of the plea agreement, his actual prison term has been set at one year and one month, while the remaining two years will be served as a suspended sentence.
