The European Court will consider these complaints in a standard procedure, without any acceleration - Beka Dzamashvili
First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili provided an explanation regarding the complaints filed with the Strasbourg Court regarding the “Foreign Agents Registration Act”.
"The European Court of Human Rights has sent the Georgian government a complaint from three organizations and three individuals, who argue that the act of registering foreign agents violates their rights, rights defined by the European Convention. It is important that these complaints were filed in July and August of last year, and the European Court sent them to the state for a response almost 9 months later, which means that the European Court will consider these complaints according to the standard procedure, without any haste. It is directly indicated that the state will have standard deadlines, namely, the state will respond to these questions by the end of July, then the complainants themselves will answer the questions, and by the end of the year, the state will also have the opportunity to give a final answer, which means that a decision on the case is not expected until next year," said Beka Dzamashvili.
