Aunt arrested for murder of 4-year-old girl in Abkhazia
The Prosecutor General's Office of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia has arrested the child's aunt on charges of murdering 4-year-old girl Gabriela Lakhina.
According to the investigation, Kristina Lakhina, who was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, intentionally caused serious harm to the minor. The crime was allegedly committed with particular cruelty and humiliation towards a person who was clearly in a helpless state.
The detainee faces 8 to 12 years in prison.
The criminal case was withdrawn from the Gulripsh District Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to information spread on social networks, the girl was brought to the hospital by her aunt. After the death of her mother, she raised the child.
Christina and her husband have four children of their own. The child's death caused a wide public outcry in Abkhazia.
