Iran will never give up control of the Strait of Hormuz - Ebrahim Aziz

Iran will never give up control of the Strait of Hormuz, the head of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Aziz, said in an interview with the BBC.

"Never. This is our inalienable right. Iran itself will decide on the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz," Aziz said.

According to him, the issue will soon become law.

"We will submit a draft law to parliament, which is based on Article 110 of the constitution and covers environmental protection, maritime security and national security. The armed forces will enforce this law," Aziz said.

Aziz called the Strait of Hormuz “one of Iran’s strategic levers” and noted that Tehran sees it as a long-term political tool.

In an interview with the BBC, Aziz denied any internal discord within the regime.

“I don’t expect much from a man who distorts the truth. We are simply defending our rights in the face of American blackmail,” Aziz said.
