Construction of Anaklia Deep-Sea Port is progressing according to plan and schedule - Tamar Ioseliani

“The construction of Anaklia Deep-Sea Port is progressing according to plan and schedule,” says Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani. According to her, important steps are being taken to begin the construction of the breakwater.

“The work is progressing according to schedule. This means that a 1,380-meter-long breakwater will be built, the corresponding basin will be deepened to 16-18 meters, and we will have the opportunity to receive the first ship by 2029,” Tamar Ioseliani noted.

As the Deputy Minister noted, the government is taking decisive steps to prepare the country for a doubling of cargo turnover and to strengthen the reputation of a reliable partner in the region. According to Tamar Ioseliani, short, medium and long-term plans have been developed to respond to existing challenges and market demands.

“Our goal is to fully satisfy the needs of the Middle Corridor and respond to increased cargo turnover through synergy with neighboring countries. Speed, efficiency and increased throughput are crucial in this process. That is why we are actively cooperating with the private sector to increase throughput. The crowning stage of all this is the Anaklia Deepwater Port, the construction of which we have already begun and we are making significant progress in this direction,” Tamar Ioseliani noted.
