Moscow confirms agreement on three-day ceasefire
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed that Russia has agreed to Donald Trump’s offer of a ceasefire for the period of May 9-11 and an exchange of prisoners of war with Ukraine.
“On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, I confirm that the Russian side accepts the initiative recently presented by US President Donald Trump on a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine for the purpose of exchanging prisoners of war,” Ushakov said.
According to Putin’s aide, the agreement on a ceasefire was reached within the framework of contacts with the US administration, which was also in contact with Kiev.
Earlier, the US president announced that a three-day ceasefire would be declared in the war between Russia and Ukraine. According to Donald Trump, the ceasefire includes a cessation of all hostilities, as well as an exchange of 1,000 rounds on both sides. In addition, the Ukrainian president issued a decree on May 9, which states that "the territorial square of Moscow's Red Square during the parade will be excluded from the plan for the use of Ukrainian weapons."
