Spying is always spying and espionage, whoever decides to be an agent in favor of another state, against their own country, the state will be principled towards everyone - Irakli Kobakhidze
Spying is always spying and espionage, being an agent in any case means committing treason against their own homeland, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists at the Veterans Culture and Recreation Park, where he paid tribute to the memory of those who died in World War II on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Victory over fascism.
According to the head of government, whoever decides to be an agent in favor of another state, against their own country, the state will be principled towards everyone.
"It doesn't matter which country a spy serves. Spying is always spying, and espionage is always a betrayal of one's homeland. At one time, specific people, politicians, even tried to popularize agentship when it came to being agents of specific states. It doesn't matter who the agent is, an agent always betrays the interests of his homeland, he always expresses his readiness to stand against the interests of his own state, therefore, this arrest [of Giorgi Udzilauri] should be an example for everyone. Whoever decides to be an agent in favor of another state, against his own country, the state will be principled towards everyone. In order for us to be careful in relations between states, we will not name the relevant state. But a clear warning to everyone - it doesn't matter whose agent you are. Agentship is always a crime against your own homeland, and therefore the state will be especially principled here," the Prime Minister said.
