Donald Trump, Xi Jinping Agree to Keep Strait of Hormuz Open To Support Free Flow of Energy - US Presidential Administration

Donald Trump and Xi Jinping had a good meeting. Both sides agreed that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to support the free flow of energy, the White House said in a statement.

According to the White House, President Xi Jinping also made clear China's opposition to any attempt to militarize the Strait and impose tariffs on its use, and expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce China's dependence on the Strait in the future.

According to the US Presidential Administration, both countries agreed that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.

The White House official also said that Trump and Xi Jinping emphasized the need to make further progress in cutting off the flow of fentanyl precursors into the United States, as well as to increase China’s purchases of American agricultural products. “President Trump had a good meeting with President Xi Jinping of China. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation between our two countries, including expanding market access for American businesses in China and increasing Chinese investment in our industries. The meeting was attended by leaders of many of the largest companies in the United States,” the White House said in a statement.
