The United States has reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil
The United States has reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil after Iran attacked commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports.
The publication writes that the US Treasury Department last month granted permission to sell Iranian oil until August 21 as part of a fragile agreement between Tehran and Washington, however, as a result of the decision made on Tuesday, this period was reduced to July 17.
According to Reuters, after the decision to reimpose sanctions on Iranian oil, oil prices rose by more than 5%.
For reference, Iran carried out three attacks on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and Tuesday.
