Georgia’s External Merchandise Trade Turnover Increased by 8.4 Percent in January–August – Geostat

According to data from the National Statistics Office (Geostat), Georgia’s external merchandise trade turnover (excluding undeclared trade) amounted to USD 17,926.9 million in January–August 2026, an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Of this total, exports stood at USD 5,422.5 million—an increase of 22.1 percent—while imports amounted to USD 12,504.4 million, marking a 3.4 percent increase. Georgia’s negative trade balance for January–August 2026 was USD 7,081.8 million, representing 39.5 percent of the total external trade turnover.

Additionally, the agency’s report indicates that the ten largest trading partners accounted for 65.7 percent of Georgia’s total external trade turnover during this period. The country’s largest trading partner is Turkey, with a volume of USD 2,247.5 million. ...with US$2,042.8 million for China and US$2,032.5 million for Russia.
