    Seasonal Flu Vaccination Has Begun

Seasonal flu vaccination has commenced nationwide today. To receive the vaccine, citizens may visit their local polyclinic or any nearby medical facility participating in the state immunization program.

Those wishing to be vaccinated should bring an identification document so that the medical facility can verify their details and record the vaccination in the electronic system.

The country has procured 200,000 doses of a French-made, trivalent seasonal flu vaccine (Vaxigrip by SANOFI WINTHROP INDUSTRIE), which is among the vaccines prequalified by the WHO.

Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older; however, there are specific groups for whom the risk of severe illness and complications from the flu is particularly high. These include: individuals aged 60 and older, pregnant women, children aged 6 months to 5 years, people with chronic illnesses, oncology patients, medical personnel, as well as beneficiaries and staff of homes for the elderly and residential care facilities.

The vaccine is free for all citizens and is fully funded by the state. The service is available both in Tbilisi and in the regions.
