Alexander Lukashenko Won the Presidential Election in Belarus
According to the preliminary results of the Central Election Commission, Alexander Lukashenko won the presidential election in Belarus.
As reported by the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lukashenko received 86.82% of the votes. Regarding the other four candidates, Oleg Gaidukevich received 2.02%, Anna Kanopatskaya – 1.86%, Sergey Cherenkov – 3.21%, Alexander Khizhnyak – 1.74%, and 3.60% of voters voted against all candidates.
To remind, polling stations opened at 8:00 AM and closed at 8:00 PM local time. A total of 5,325 polling stations were open across the country. According to the Central Election Commission of Belarus, voter turnout in the presidential election was 85.70%. Alexander Lukashenko has held the office of President of Belarus since 1994.
