GeoStat reports 5.0% inflation in September using EU methodology
The National Statistics Office of Georgia, or GeoStat, has begun publishing a new indicator, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), since 2022.
According to GeoStat, using this methodology, inflation in September 2025 stood at 5.0%, a 0.2 percentage point rise compared to the 4.8% calculated under the national methodology.
Regarding individual components, the EU HICP figures indicate the following percentage changes compared to the same period in 2024:
– Food and non-alcoholic beverages – 11.6%
– Alcoholic beverages and tobacco – 4.0%
– Clothing and footwear – -0.9%
– Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other heating – 1.0%
– Furniture, household goods, decorations, and home maintenance – -3.4%
– Health care – 9.1%
– Transport – -2.1%
– Communication – -2.7%
– Recreation, entertainment, and culture – 0.2%
– Education – 2.4%
– Hotels, cafes, and restaurants – 6.1%
– Miscellaneous goods and services – 5.6%
