Syria’s decision will not change firm position of international community - James Appathurai

Syria’s decision on recognition of so-called independence of Georgia’s two occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia will not change the firm position of international community — James Appathurai, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia said.

“The standpoint of NATO and its alliances is clear and firm. We support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,” Appathurai exclusively told First Channel.

According to Appathurai, NATO keeps on non-recognition policy and calls on Russia to fulfil its internationally taken commitments.
