They are still demanding that we impose sanctions… The statements of the European bureaucracy are no longer valuable to Georgian society - Irakli Kobakhidze
The main thing for us is that we have a very clear policy - this policy means that we have not imposed sanctions, but we do not allow sanctions to be circumvented on the territory of our country, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated this in the program "Imedi LIVE".
According to the head of government, at this time the European bureaucracy is operating with double standards.
"The main thing for us is that we have principles and act according to these principles, which the European bureaucracy does not do. These double standards are precisely the expression of unprincipledness. Back in 2022, when the war had just begun, 4 times more wine was exported from Lithuania and Latvia to Russia than from Georgia. Neither of them is a wine-producing country. In reality, re-export was taking place, which had less social impact for these two countries, but they demanded and still demand that we impose sanctions. They should sell the wine themselves, even though they do not produce this product at all, and our farmers, vine growers, and winemakers cannot sell wine to Russia. Our society sees this too. Everything is very simple here. Trade between Europe and Russia amounts to billions, we must impose sanctions. Everything is as clear as it is today, and therefore the statements of the European bureaucracy no longer have any value for Georgian society, because everyone sees this falsity." "And the double standards that their decisions are based on every time," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
