Mrs. Elene should have thought about her four children a little earlier - Kakha Kaladze

Mrs. Elene should have thought about her four children a little earlier - Kakha Kaladze

Everyone should look after their own country and do the work for which they were sent to our country, - this is how Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze responded to the statement made by several diplomats about the verdict issued against Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change".

According to his assessment, the statements made by the ambassadors of some countries regarding Georgia go beyond any diplomatic activity.

"The attitude that we hear from the representatives of some countries is categorically unacceptable. Their actions, statements, of course, go beyond any diplomatic activity. This is unthinkable and is direct interference in the internal political affairs of the country. Everyone should look after their own country and do the work for which they were sent to our country," - said Kakha Kaladze.

As for the issue of the arrest of Elene Khoshtaria herself, the mayor of the capital believes that Khoshtaria's action was not just about damaging the banner, as she disrupted the Georgian Dream's election campaign.

“Different actions acquire different meanings at different times. This was not just damaging a banner or a photo. This was an obstruction of the election campaign, despite numerous calls. You will not find a single fact that we, politicians, went to the office of any political party, ran over, insulted them, damaged their posters and banners. You are trying to present the attempt of the October 4 Revolution as damaging the fence of the presidential administration, but in reality the said fence was damaged to break into the building. For example, if we take a residential apartment, the door of the apartment, conditionally, may be worth 300 GEL, but when you deliberately destroy it and try to break into someone else’s residential building, this is defined as robbery, it has an appropriate article and will be followed by an appropriate response,” the Tbilisi Mayor noted.

He said that adults make their own decisions about their actions and are responsible for them before the law.

“I am not happy that anyone goes to prison, but we are all adults, not children, and we ourselves make the decision on how to behave. Mrs. Elene Khoshtaria had the opportunity to admit what she did wrong, to pay bail, but she considered it necessary and decided so. This is her right. The actions that were observed during the pre-election process are categorically unacceptable – running to my election headquarters, insulting people, damaging banners, etc. After all, we are building a civilized, democratic state, where during the election period all political parties and politicians should have the opportunity to conduct election campaigns in a free environment. We did not run into anyone and did not interfere with the election campaign process. We should all be kind and act as our country deserves and needs. Mrs. Elene should probably have thought about her four children a little earlier,” said the Tbilisi Mayor.
