    A foreign citizen has been detained for attempting to acquire a large amount of real estate using forged documents, said Lasha Maghradze, Deputy Head of the State Security Service, at a briefing held at the agency.

    As noted at the briefing, the investigation is underway under Article 362, Part Two, Subparagraph “b” and Article 19, Part Three, Subparagraph “b” of Article 180 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a term of imprisonment of 6 to 9 years.

    "Employees of the Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service are intensively carrying out counterintelligence and relevant operational measures in Georgia to identify individuals associated with foreign special services and expose them for various crimes.

    As a result of operational and investigative measures conducted in this direction, we detained a foreign citizen who is accused of using a fake official document.

    At the same time, the accused, using a fake passport of a citizen of another country, tried to acquire a large amount of real estate. In particular, the accused, in the name of a citizen of another country, through the performance of a notarial act, tried to grant a third party the right to dispose of real estate registered in Georgia.

    At this stage, the investigation is underway under Article 362, Part Two, Subparagraph "b" and Article 19, Part Three, Subparagraph "b" of Article 180 of the Criminal Code, which provides for the punishment "It provides for imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years," they said at a briefing at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
