    Irakli Kobakhidze meets with Ilham Aliyev

    Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

    According to the information released by the government administration, during the face-to-face meeting, the parties emphasized the high level of strategic partnership between the two countries and fruitful cooperation in various fields.

    "Attention was focused on the deepening of economic ties and the role of the Georgia-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation in this regard, the next session of which will be held in Georgia in the near future.

    During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the importance of peace in the region. The Head of Government noted that Georgia welcomes the ongoing dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which is an important step for regional stability and development.

    The parties also discussed the situation in the Middle East. The need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and restore peace was emphasized," the information says.

    In addition, according to them, an expanded meeting of members of the governments of the two countries was also held under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of Azerbaijan.

    "The meeting focused on the growing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the importance of fully utilizing the existing potential in this regard.

    The conversation also touched upon the close partnership in the energy sector and regionally important transport and energy projects that Georgia and Azerbaijan are jointly implementing. Among them, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was mentioned, which plays a key role in ensuring regional connectivity.

    The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, Assistant to the President for Foreign Policy Hikmet Hajiyev, Minister of Economy Mikhail Jabbarov, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiev, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev participated,” the report says.
