We have 64 free canteens in the capital, specific companies have been identified as perpetrators, if anyone has committed a crime or dares to do so in the future, they will be held accountable before the law - Kakha Kaladze
The investigation will establish everything, the capital's city hall is not an investigative agency, - this is how Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze responded to the media about the possible corruption in free canteens.
He also explained that the employees of the municipality's city hall evaluate the free canteens from a sanitary point of view, while the remaining issues are handled by contractor companies.
“We have 64 free canteens in the capital. Specific companies have been identified as perpetrators of the crime. The contractor company is responsible for receiving and delivering products, registering beneficiaries, and more. This is spelled out in the contract. If the district administration employees were caught in the crime, appropriate action would be taken, they would be arrested. If a specific company or its subcontractor is guilty, the investigation will determine this,” said Kakha Kaladze.
According to the Tbilisi Mayor, any person who commits a crime is liable before the law.
"I am responsible for myself. About 30,000 employees work at the Municipality Hall. If someone has committed a crime or dares to do so in the future, they will be held accountable before the law. Today, the situation is such that they may not be able to take responsibility for their own child. The City Hall is not an investigative agency. Agencies have a corresponding direction, everyone is obliged to act within their competence," Kakha Kaladze noted.
