Parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy demand a meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze
Parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy are at the government administration. They demand a meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze.
As the protesters say, every minute is crucial for their children and now it is necessary to import the medicine that is vital for children into the country.
The participants of the protest demand the import of modern medical medicines into Georgia. In addition, they are interested in what decision was made after Kobakhidze met with the Minister of Health.
According to the protesters, Kobakhidze is avoiding meeting with them.
“We came to try to meet with Irakli Kobakhidze once again. The fact is that he is empty for everyone, except for children with Duchenne. We were going to bring tents, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs refused us a 24-hour protest and forbade us to set up tents. Parents of children doomed to death are not allowed to protest.
We did not receive any promises, neither from the Ministry of Health nor from the Chancellery, negotiations were simply underway, which served to delay time. The function of the Minister of Health was to buy time to do something,” said Kakha Tsikarishvili.
According to the organization “Fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Together”, there are about 100 children with Duchenne in Georgia.
Parents say new-generation medications can protect children with Duchenne syndrome from further health complications.
