We have decided to postpone the entry into force of the regulation on the import and placing on the market of beverages in plastic bottles for 4 years, until February 1, 2031, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at a government session.

As the Prime Minister noted, this is a decision that was made on the basis of consultations.

"Plastic consumption harms both human health and the environment. Several important steps have already been taken towards reducing plastic consumption. This process will continue gradually, but at the same time, we must take into account the side factors related to this process, including the objective interests of business, as well as the possible impact of specific regulations on consumer prices. We had active consultations with the business sector, thanks to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture for this. After these consultations, we decided to postpone the entry into force of the regulation on the production, import and placing on the market of beverages in plastic bottles for 4 years, until February 1, 2031. This is a decision that was made on the basis of consultations," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
