Russian Foreign Ministry warns of possible consequences of Georgia's EU membership

The Russian Foreign Ministry is warning of possible consequences of Georgia's EU membership.

As the official representative of the ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated, Georgia's entry into the EU and joining Brussels' anti-Russian sanctions will cause serious damage to the country's tourism industry and will also reduce trade preferences with Russia and the CIS countries.

According to her, EU membership "given its destructive requirements" will deal a heavy blow to Georgia's tourism and threaten communication between relatives living in Georgia and Russia, as they may find it difficult to visit each other freely.

According to Zakharova, in addition, Georgia will have to join the energy embargo against Russia.

She also noted that Russia is one of the main and reliable suppliers of oil products and natural gas for Georgia.
