Informal influences are evident in organizations that, instead of protecting sovereignty, create challenges for countries, a “good” example of this is Georgia - Irakli Kobakhidze
Georgia’s approach is as follows: we are trying to maintain peace, ensure stability and prosperity, we are concerned with strengthening the connectivity of our country, and strengthening economic ties with various partner countries. Reality shows that this approach is successful, – said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in his speech at the leaders’ panel discussion “Defining the Future and Managing Risks” held within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
As Kobakhidze noted, specific multilateral organizations, instead of protecting sovereignty, create challenges for countries.
“In your introductory speech, you touched on multilateral organizations. In this regard, I would like to say that in our opinion, informal influences are also evident in these official organizations. This is very noticeable to us. The result of this is quite negative: specific multilateral organizations, instead of protecting sovereignty, create challenges for countries. A “good” example of this is Georgia. In this direction – in terms of ensuring our sovereignty and independence – we are facing certain challenges from some multinational organizations. This is one of the issues that needs to be changed. We all remember well such phrases as “rules-based international order”, “values-based international order”. Unfortunately, this has already become a thing of the past. Many politicians talk about this. It is really important to strengthen multinational organizations. First of all, this must be done to restore rules-based international law. This is a very difficult task and we will have to work hard for this,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
