    As a result of jointly conducted operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance revealed another fact of international drug trafficking.

    As the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department, Davit Kiknadze, stated at a briefing held at the MIA, law enforcement officers seized an especially large amount - up to 103 kilograms of the drug "methamphetamine", the market value of which on the so-called black market is approximately 30 million GEL.

    According to him, one person has been detained for the fact of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of drugs and illegal importation into Georgia.

    “The investigation into the criminal case revealed that a truck belonging to one of the companies, which was loaded with caustic soda, entered Georgia from a neighboring country and was supposed to leave for a third country. During a detailed inspection of the cargo, law enforcement officers discovered a particularly large amount of narcotics distributed in bags. In order to identify other persons involved in this case and bring them to criminal responsibility, relevant complex measures are being carried out in an intensive regime. The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said at a briefing.

    According to the agency, the fight against drug crime remains one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

    "Law enforcement officers are implementing appropriate complex police measures 24 hours a day to identify and hold criminally liable individuals involved in drug crimes," the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department said at a briefing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
